Operation ATLANTIC Operation ATLANTIC is a joint initiative led by the National Crime Agency with support from the US Secret Service, Canadian law enforcement and regulators. The operation aims to identify individuals in the UK, US and Canada who may have been affected by cryptoasset fraud, particularly through a method known as approval phishing. Working with UK‑based Virtual Asset Service Providers, officers are contacting potential victims by phone and email to explain risks, offer guidance, and help prevent further financial harm. Key Points Focus on victims of “approval phishing”, where scammers trick individuals into granting access to their crypto wallets—often linked to online investment or “pig butchering” frauds.Officers may contact individuals directly; verification routes are available (NCA officer verification webpage or 24/7 phone line).Victims are encouraged to report incidents to Report Fraud in the UK, or to US/Canadian law enforcement via dedicated portals.Guidance is being provided on protecting wallets, revoking malicious approvals, avoiding recovery scams, and securing accounts.Verification & Reporting NCA officer verification: https://www.nationalcrimeagency.gov.uk/contact-us/officer-verificationNCA 24/7 line: 0370 496 7622Report Fraud (UK): https://www.reportfraud.police.uk/US victims: http://www.secretservice.gov/OperationAtlanticCanadian victims: http://www.opp.ca/atlas |
